In these hard economic times, or for that matter, any time, I'm always looking for budget items and certain tools we use infrequently that can be expensive and as such budget priced items can save ones wallet.
This tool is just one of those rare budget finds. Most motor pinion gear removal tools sell for around $50 plus dollars, not including shipping. This particular model (Turborix Pinion Gear Removal Kit) cost us just $22.37 shipped from r2hobbies.com
The package Included:
- The Body
- T-screw
- 3 pins
- Set pin screw
- Allen key for pin screw
- V plate
The removal method is quite easy:
- Select the proper pin. Look at the motor pinion gear and make sure it is smaller than the opening and the motor shaft.
- Install the selected pin into the t-screw then lock it in place with the enclosed set pin screw and allen key.
- Thread the t screw into place.
- Insert the V plate into the Body (slots)
- Check your motor pinion gear to see if it has it's own set screw and remove if it does.
- Slide the motor in place, lining it up with the pin
- Slowly turn the t screw down until the motor pinion gear pops off. this may take a bit of effort to do depending on how tight the gear is on the motor shaft.
This particular tool you can use to reduce costs by repairing a good motor or salvaging parts from damaged or old motors.
